  • Day-of registration closes at 10:30am

  • No license required

  • $5 Day-of registration fee (N/A to Beginners and Juniors).

  • NO Mail-in entries. NO refunds. NO entry swapping or selling.

  • Pre-registered racers and Day-of registering racers: have FILLED Games waiver and drivers license.

Each category has a unique point to point course based on conditioning, experience and time in the saddle.

All Experts, 20mi

(2-3 hours)

Start time = 11:00am

(Expert 15-18, 19+, 35-44, 45+)

 

 

Bennett Springs Parking Lot - neutral start led by pace car, race starts at main gate.

Part 1: continue on Happy Valley FR (#1) - left on Songbird (#9) - cross Tunnel (#19) - continue on Songbird - right on #1 - then left onto Enchanted Forest (#11) - then left on Tuck-A-Way (#3), cross creek - right on Comet (#4) - left on #1 - left up Brushy Mtn FR (#2)

Part 2: continue up #2 - descend Hemlock Tunnel (good ole Clownhead) (#7) - over to Comet (# 4) - descend to 4-Way Intersection - continue through on #4 back to # 2 

Part 3: take take Four Gordge (#24) to Hidee Ho (#17) make left up Hidee Ho - right on (# 2) - right to descend Buck's Rut (#15) - towards bottom make right onto Hotel (# 16) to finish in Bennett Springs parking lot

All Sports, 14mi

(1.5-2.5 hours)

Start time = 11:10am

(Sport 15-18, 19+, 35-44, 45+)

  • Cash or prize awards to overall winners based on combined lowest times from the two races.

  • Pro/Expert overall weekend cash: 1st = $100, 2nd = $75, 3rd = $50

  • Prizes for top finisher all other categories

  • All categories are eligible for Coventry Commonwealth Games of Virginia medals; 3 overall medals and top 3 medals per category per day

  • All racers can enter and do not have to be a VA resident to race.

  • Pro racers are not eligible for any medals.

NO NEED TO PURCHASE A COVE PASS IF COMPETING, SPECTATING OR VOLUNTEERING WITH THE RACE

However, the daily pass is $2 and yearly passes are $20 for all users.

Pre-ride and pre-purchase your pass to support the trails!

Don't wait until the day of the event to purchase your daily or yearly pass.  You can pre-purchase a pass within a 10-day window from the event date.

We strongly encourage for you to pre-ride the course.

Passes can be obtained at the Security Office, East Coasters Bike Shop or Just the Right Gear (closed Sundays!) prior to the event.  Information also at the Western Virginia Water Authority website.

  • The Challenge is the combined time for the two days of racing. 

  • All categories are eligible for Commonwealth Games (CG) medals and overall Challenge

  • To qualify for the Challenge competition, racers must pre-register and compete in both races, not register individually.

  • All racers can win their respective category Challenge regardless of home state.

  • Pro racers are not eligible for any medals, but are qualified for Challenge.

  • Racers who medaled in Beginner 2010 RMBC must upgrade to the Sport category for 2011.

  • Racers can compete with any two-wheeled, upright, self-propelled, safe-working, two hand brake bicycle must have the following:  

    • 20, 24, 26 or 29" tires

    • canti-lever, linear pull or disc brakes

  • No littering

  • No urinating in public

    You will be disqualified if you are caught urinating in public and/or littering

    ZERO TOLERANCE!

  • Unsportsmanlike behavior will also result in disqualification: foul language to other participants, spectators, law enforcement, volunteers and race officials; also pushing, punching, biting, kicking and hair pulling

  • Helmets mandatory at all times participating or preparing for the event. All participants mounted on a bicycle shall wear a securely fastened helmet that meets either the US DOT helmet standards or one of the following standards: ANSI, Snell "B" or "N" series, ASTM, CSA, or CPSC

  • Must wear helmet at all times: racing, warming up, sitting on, standing over, anytime on your bike!  The only exception is while on stationary rollers or trainer.

  • DO NOT RIDE/WARM UP/RETURN ON COURSE!!!

  • Park in designated areas only

  • No loose dogs and/or children

  • Please review the individual events for any specific details

Carvins Cove Natural Reserve is the top 3rd largest city owned park in the U.S.  At 12,000 acres, the Cove hosts over 30 miles of pure singletrack and dynamite fire roads.  Within 25 minutes of downtown Roanoke, cyclists from all over Southwest Virginia and beyond come to experience the trail system.
